February 26, 2019 - Decanted about an hour and a half. A bit of brick color, more like the Nebbiolo color we are used to, and unlike the bright purple of the Sfursat we had last week, that was not apassimento. Very complex nose, some dried fruits, cherries, some earth. Big palate, lots going on, mouth came alive with this wine in it. Long, complex finish. Used the word “complex” a lot in this note, deservedly so. As with other notes, this was unlike any Nebbiolo I had ever had. Paired with braised short ribs, it couldn’t have been more perfect.

February 4, 2019 - A friend brought this to dinner. Would not have guessed this was Nebbiolo! Couldn’t put my finger on it whatsoever and figured it must be some obscure native varietal. The appassimento technique really obscures the traditional traits. That said, it doesn’t taste overtly raisin-y. It is sleek, with dark fruits and some chocolatey flavor. That it has 15.5% alcohol isn’t immediately apparent either, granted this came at the very end of the night. Glad to have tried it and learned something new, as this is not the style of wine I typically buy.

April 27, 2018 - Assertive, very good wine from dried Nebbiolo grapes.
Black berries, licorice, cloves, vanilla, milk chocolate and a touch of earth. Really nice, still developing, with a long future ahead.
Intense in the mouth as well, though less rich then your average Amarone, which is the style it most relates to.
High acidity, grippy but not coarse tannins, broad and well balance, closing with a long finish of red berries.

June 24, 2017 - No 3, wet leaves, licrorice. Leather, sandy tannin, off dry, tobacco, wet leaves. High alcohol!(15.5)

February 11, 2017 - Ludicrously young. So primary; oak needs time to integrate. Really deserves first opening in 4-5 years and then every 5 years after. Lots of ripe, jammy fruits, prune, fig, mixed with cedar, sandalwood, clove, cinnamon, vanilla. Basically Amarone with Nebbiolo, this is unlike any Nebbiolo most will have tasted. It is delicious, but alcohol at 15.5% is makes its self known on nose and palate. Lots of acid and thick tannin. Bursting with flavor.
