Community Tasting Notes 3

April 17, 2022 - Perhaps not quite as captivating as the previous bottle, far less Burgundian, but nonetheless a lovely wine. Much more in keeping with my understanding of the southern Rhone, with clear menthol notes and dark fruit alongside red, but with a suppleness that was very invigorating. Excellent

March 16, 2022 - Wow, what an eye opener this was! As a prior reviewer noted this is a highly atypical Chateauneuf, or at least I have never come across one like this before. In the glass this was a bright translucent red, an immediate marker that this might not be a regular southern Rhone. Sticking my nose in the glass I had to look at the bottle to see if had made a mistake - surely this was a pinot noir? But no! I had no clue that Grenache could be made to taste like this (95% Grenache, 2.5% Syrah, 2.5% Mourvedre). The nose and palate are dominated by an earthiness and sweet fresh red fruit, so similar to a Bourgogne it is uncanny. It is vibrant, elegant, airy and alive - alternatively known as lip-smackingly gorgeous. In a word, wonderful - my first bottle from this producer and will not be the last! I assume that the vintage must have something to do with it, but my only reservation is that if you were hoping for a garrigue-focused wine, black fruits with a classic herbal and menthol nature to pair with particular food than you would perhaps be disappointed if you opened this. Wine should reflect a certain typicity in my view, but nonetheless I was delighted!

July 18, 2021 - This is an ethereal C9dP translucent in colour showcasing freshness and purity over power and concentration. Aromas since trying this EP have been captivating, and they remain so, with raspberries and a background hint of water evaporating on hot stones. On the palate this wine has silky tannins and continues to show purity and freshness with the same wild raspberries dominating although perhaps a little thin on the mid-palette. It remains a light and PN-esque C9dP consistent with the vintage. 14.5% ABV & Certified Organic. Served cellar cool from Conterno Sensory.
