For me the best champagne of the last 25 years. Always stunning and epic. We had side by side 04 MG and 08. A class of its own. 99
November 4, 2023 - A much different profile than the usual Krug Mesnil. Remarkably thick and viscous and medium yellow fruit verging on dark. But endless emerging complexity saves the day so each sip is more interesting than the previous one. Could this bottle have been exposed to heat at some point?
October 28, 2023 - La Fête du Champagne Gala (Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers - New York NY): Small gala glass. Another powerhouse still working its way towards something great, it is already near great tonight.
October 1, 2023 - The 2002 Krug Clos du Mesnil is at a perfect point in its maturity; still with beautiful lemony, mirabelle fruit but also with some touches of maturity - buttery, briochy, nutty, akin to where some mid to late 90s white burgundy are at the moment. Some felt that this was very correct but perhaps not in possession of a dramatic character, but I admired its cool cohesion, its completeness even though it is not loud.
