February 8, 2023 - Double blind tasting
Dark lemon with green tint
Medium plus aromas of candied lemon and pear and tropical notes/ fruit blossom with faint petrol
I thought I noted new oak aromas but was obviously mistaken
Medium bodied with palate of ripe citrus and tropical notes with slight saline character
Medium acidity with mild phenolic bitterness and medium alcohol
I called Bordeaux Blanc based on what I thought was new oak aromas
May have missed the call by a long shot but I really liked this
I think the aging potential of this Soave, especially at entry level is remarkable - no real oxidative qualities at all

February 7, 2023 - Dark lemon
Aromatics medium +. Petrol/oil note. Early bitter nut skin that fades to bruised pear and lemon peel. Ends with a yeast note. No new oak
Palate has a medium body. Acid medium +. Mild phenolics. Alcohol medium. Salt, lemons and despite the acid has a lees feel
Finish has a medium length. Balanced
Dry glass notes of the oil but not quite petrol aromatic
Seemed typical for an aged Italian white, but enjoyable.

August 9, 2020 - Pale yellow hue that opens with lily and lemon-lime citrus aromas. Preserved lemon and melon flavors dominate the front palate while brine and mineral notes linger on the medium length finish. Loved this paired with shrimp, asparagus, peas, diced tomatoes and pasta with olive oil.

June 23, 2020 - 85% Garganega and 15% Trebbiano di Soave. 100% destemmed. This winery was founded in 1860. Nino Pieropan (referred to as "the noble soul of the appellation" by his peers) uses methods such as short pruning, green harvest and organic manuring to achieve the Garganega grapes full potential. The volcanic soils of the hillside sites used in this wine are heavy in clay and basalt. Previously had the 2000, 2001 and 2008 vintage of this wine together with various vintages of his single vineyard bottlings. For some reason, this wine fell off the map for me until I saw a Pieropan thread on wineberserkers so I bought a few of these for $13 each. What a great value. Pale straw color. A crisp wine but with nice depth on the palate. Notes of grapefruit, citrus and a minerally finish. Still showing very well at 5 years old. 91 points.
