December 31, 2022 - Drank this too long ago to remember specifics, but I do recall that it was outclassed by a 2016 Malescot. This wine was stylistically softer and less serious, but certainly delicious. Tough to justify the price point tho, given other class growth options.

December 26, 2020 - Nose- black & red fruits, Cassis, currants, spices & some cedar with cooked meats. Palate black & red fruits with spices, some medium tannins & minerals with cooked meats, a savory quality & superbly integrated oak with some more fruit on the finish & an earthy quality. Really good stuff but needs air. Definitely a special wine.

  • WineTally Likes this wine:

    November 17, 2020 - 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc
from selected younger vines in the First Growth's estate vineyards.
Harvested in small open baskets. Fermented in the Mouton oak vats.
    Aged in oak barrels.
    13.5% Abv.
Label inspired by a 1927 drawing by Art Deco poster artist Jean Carlu.
Proprietors: Children of Baroness Philippine Rothschild (1933-2014)
Camille Sereys de Rothschild, Philippe Sereys de Rothschild, and
    Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild
Managing Director/Winemaker: Philippe Dhalluin [retired in 2020]

A(ccuray)=2: Med deep ruby. Minty, toasty Pauillac.
B(alance)=3: Opulent fruit with racy acidity and grainy tannin.
C(omplexity)=2: Dark berries, plum, graphite, leather.
D(epth)=2: Fresh mouthfeel. Full length and lingering finish.

    Wine Tally Score [2,3,2,2]= 9/10

Top second wine in excellent vintage.

October 11, 2020 - Really needs 4 hours decant. After 1.5 hours it’s still a simple wine, not showing the elegance or complexity of a first growth

May 21, 2018 - Lead pencil, cigar box, ash, crushed stone and rocks with dark red berries are on the nose and palate. Silky, soft, round textures, lush tannins and juicy, sweet fruits with tobacco finish everything off.
