March 30, 2024 - Decanted an hour and drank over another hour. Old World nose but still muted. Dark color. Great extraction and concentration. Very Modern Style now. Tobacco, leather, cherry, cassis. Will improve with more age. Primary now but excellent.
February 25, 2024 - 30 min decant, would benefit from an hour of air. Riper fruit, black cherry, plum, graphite and some vanilla on the nose. The oak is still present, but this wine has aged well. Excellent value and a wine that drinks like a much more expensive Napa blend. Enjoy now or over the next 10 years.
February 14, 2024 - Decanted for 45 minutes. Impressive deep crimson color. Bouquet not giving much, but the mouthfeel was impressively weighty and the finish was medium long. The flavor profile is still primary — cassis and oak, but drinking well with no hard edges. A wine that keeps calling you back for more.
February 7, 2024 - Dekantert. Meget stort behag fra første glass. Noe alkohol-stikk, men pytt, pytt.
Alkohol klart mer tilstede dag 2. Ikke gøy!
January 3, 2024 - Muted to non-existent nose. Purple color. Mellow, rounded, mature wine with a deep, packed flavor profile. Length of taste is not extraordinary, but the finish during the swallow brings forth the deep loamy earth flavor that is unmistakably Bordeaux.
75% Merlot. 15% Cabernet Franc. 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
This is not a rock-em, sock-em, in your face wine, but a more subdued taste experience that hides the 15% alcohol very well.
2nd Day Tasting: the power of the beast becomes evident. A huge wine, not for the faint of heart. A sipper.
January 2, 2024 - Popped and Poured, drank over two evenings.
Rather hard edged and a bit hot at first.
By the second day it had smoothed out and was quite enjoyable, with less heat detected.
December 21, 2023 - Similar to prior review, this is more New World in style, and has mellowed a bit with a few years age. Can hold longer but for this style not sure it will evolve for the better, I’ll probably drink my other bottle sooner than later
December 5, 2023 - Blackberry reduction-royal velvety creamy texture- 190 euro on list and it stroked it - bravo
October 19, 2023 - Very nice and drinking well right now.
October 15, 2023 - Blackish purple in color with a very light watery rim. Rather restrained nose of dark rich plummy fruit and faint notes of cedar, oak, vanilla, and loamy earth. The palate is likewise reserved but what was revealed was relatively well-balanced despite the 15% abv, medium-bodied, very round and silky-textured, lithe, and decently structured but not as extracted and rich as I was anticipating (given my previous experience with the 2012 version of this wine). The flavor components include matured dark purple and red fruits, young tobacco, cedar, vanilla, a faint impression of menthol and lavender leaves, and a quick but pronounced flash of cool wet minerality (graphite?) towards the slightly hot (as in alcoholic) finish. Obviously still very young in its development but is delicious with plenty (as in lots and lots) of air. I will have to revisit this again over the next few nights to see how this evolve. Day 2: The nose is more generous while the flavor components tastes much more alive and even-keeled with the alcohol in check. Day 3: The flavor profile is much more integrated and harmonious, while the vanilla and wet earthy minerality become more intensified towards the protracted finish. The grippy tannins became more evident today which suggests that it’s still have plenty of upside left in this amazing wine. 91 - 93
