April 1, 2016 - Color is showing its age. Very strong aromas. Earthy, smokey and leathery. But ultimately it is the citrus that comes through. Oranges for sure. On the palate I got sweet cranberries. Big acidy. Tannins present but somewhat light. Some heat. Certainly this is a worrisome vintage but this is very good. And the vineyard produces such tasty fruit. This is big and aggressive and not for everyone. The quality is high and the balance is in the pocket.

February 14, 2013 - PnP (expressive immediately). This remains an iconic Cali Pinot for me. More so than any other Native9 vintage this one matches amazing depth of flavor and aroma with structure (tannin, some acidity and, unfortunately, etoh) to give a silky texture that allows the complexities of the big, dark, Cali, fruit to play out. Good length and food friendly. Lacks mineral, brightness and tension or finesse. Still has a future, but doubt that it will improve.

June 26, 2010 - Needs 2 hours to really open and begin to integrate....I think this will be better in 2-4 years. Anyway...this is a very good pinot. Nose of deep currents and lilac. deep strawberries, kiwi, spice...seawater. Nice integration in the fore pallet....with a strong acidic backbone. A little tart ting hangs in the finish that I think will fade with time. Very nice wine.

January 19, 2010 - To me this wine is either in decline or my palate is changing. Maybe I'm just getting tired of this over ripe style. I love this wine when it was released.

August 18, 2008 - Not sure this pinot has improved from previous bottles just mellowed out somewhat. Has a great nose and is evolving into a very nice mature pinot. No rush to comsume my remaining bottles.
