April 23, 2024 - Cooled in fridge for 45 minutes, taken out and decanted for 30 mins
Medium garnet. Opening aroma of cherry (somewhere between red and black, but not clearly one or the other), and flowers. No tar on the nose.
On the palate hallmark tannin under the palate and around the lower gums. Light to medium bodied with gentle black cherry and dark strawberry coming through in pleasing linear manner. The tar element builds, perhaps a little too much for me. Long finish in the tar / liquorice spectrum with some bitterness at the back palate on the side.
Doing well at 11 years of age. -

September 30, 2018 - A very savoury Nebbiolo and quite austere for a locally made version. It’s all orange peel and sour cherries. Tannins are still very assertive. Might need a couple more years to settle into itself. An interesting wine and no doubt it’s ‘proper’ Nebbiolo, but a pinch of further sweetness would be welcome. It is super savoury.

July 19, 2018 - Nice enough Aus Nebbiolo which has been rated pretty highly but didn’t quite scale the heights I was hoping. This bottle felt a little dull, heavy and slightly clumsy, lacking a little finesse, detail and flavour complexity. Probably had high expectations and while I certainly enjoyed it, couldn’t get too excited.

November 5, 2016 - What an intriguing wine. Quite floral and red-berried, yet has a lovely thread of bitter herbs that remind you it's a Nebbiolo. Quality tannins are a standout feature. This is a very unique expression of the variety, and all the better for it.

August 30, 2016 - Cherry, rose petals and aniseed on the nose. Light to medium bodied. On the palate, tar, orange peel, roses, cherries and a very subtle pinch of liquorice. Tannins are just mind blowing for an Australian made Nebbiolo. They are massive and that is a very good thing here. This is a remarkably well made wine that, in its own way, rivals some entry-level Langhe Nebbiolos. This could really develop over 10+ years.
