May 3, 2024 - A great vintage for this consistently over-achieving Burgundy that's still very youthful but delivers absolutely delicious and pure cherry fruit that's impossible to resist. A nice touch of barnyard funk adds to the allure and authenticity here and the finish is crunchy and complex with notes of red spices and minerals. Really lifted and fresh and will improve from here. A baby Clos de la Roche in flavor profile but this is no baby in terms of quality. 93+

October 17, 2023 - Mini Lignier study (Chicago, IL): I think broadly speaking, there's more upside here in the future; it's not as expressive and open as I remember it from the last time I had this a few years ago, so I think it's mostly a question of letting this mature more now. I really like the mix of red and black berries here, with just a modest kiss of oak. The fruit is precise and clean, and with a nascent hint of earth starting to show through. More drinkable than the 2016 right now, but still more upside here. Just drink the 2015 instead.

January 7, 2023 - This is just so succulent and juicy with intense wild cherry fruit and a perfect dose of acidity. The finish is taut and fine with a complex crunch of minerals and red spices. This is drinking so well now and couldn’t be from anywhere other than Burgundy.

November 5, 2021 - This is still quite youthful of course but with a couple of hours of air it begins to show its potential. A beautiful cherry perfume pervades the wine with deep black cherry fruit balanced by firm underlying acidity. The finish shows lively intensity with an excellent mineral crunch and a tasty red licorice note. Really needs several more years to flesh out but this is a very good vintage for this classic bottling. 93+
