Community Tasting Notes 110

April 13, 2024 - No formal notes - excellent and drinking really well. Expressive, open, layered - notes of dark and red fruit, licorice, tobacco, sweet spiced. Great persistence. Drink or keep.

March 31, 2024 - From a magnum. Black fruit and kirsch, vanilla and spice, perhaps just slightly too much acidity. Good, but the acidity didn't feel completely integrated.

February 6, 2024 - Still very much alive and kicking, even slightly hot suggesting the alcohol was a little bit out of balance. Very Muga, so very Rioja. I suggest also typical of the vintage which for me has always been a bit more full-on than say the 2004 or 2001. Could be cellared for years to come. A good wine but not for me at a GR level such as the Prado Enea.

December 2, 2022 - Wow, spectacular. Exceeded expectations.

Wine is still a opaque purple, no signs of any browning on the edges. Aromas of cedar, vanilla, leather, cigar box, blueberry pie, and honey suckle flowers fill the glass.

In the mouth, a creamy, not watery texture, filled with red and black cherry, black raspberry, and hints of strawberry. Lots of earth and pencil lead mid-palate followed by a long finish of more red fruit and integrated tannin. Acidity is still there to make it feel much younger than 17 years.

Great bottle, hope yours' is just as good. In a great spot now, but should hold for at least a few more years or longer.

November 21, 2022 - Not at it best.
Passed its peak. Not bad, without any magic.
