April 8, 2008 - Second and last bottle tasted. Similar thoughts as before, but not even as good. Bitter and thin throughout despite leaving it open for several hours. My wife, who is an unbiased (couldn't care less) taster made an awful face on tasting this and immediately poured it down the sink. Generous with a 70 score.

March 31, 2008 - I don't see how anyone could score this higher than "Below average" which is 70-74. On opening, the nose is muted, but pleasantly pinot noir. In the mouth, this is a thin, nearly flavorless wine with a very bitter finish. It's very close to being in the "Avoid" (50-70) category, but I suppose there is someone out there that can get it down.

November 16, 2007 - I want to be generous but this wine is like a spoiled baseball millionaire who isn't running out a ground ball to the infield. It's acting like it's tired or it doesn't quite care. In fairness, this was procured at auction several years ago and I can't attest to its provenance-but hey, I calls em like I sees em. A somewhat bosky nose is followed by muted and nearly deathbed fruit with forest floor overtones and a harshly acidic finish that leaves my mouth feeling like it has been tasered. Boo.

June 30, 2006 - Something good going on underneath but badly corked. Bought at auction.

3/1/2006 (link)(Grivot Jean Nuits St.Georges Lavières) Medium-plus ruby-red, fading to salmon-pink. The nose is high toned and a little diffuse, just an edge of caramel perhaps. Smooth, with some concentration and way above average length for a villages, but ends just a little 'wishy-washy' - I wouldn't say that the acidity dominates, but given another 5 year, it might.

7/1/2005 (link)(Grivot Jean Nuits St.Georges Lavières) Deep colour, more garnet than ruby. The nose is quite meaty and fresh. The tannins, whilst not bad in texture, still require a couple or three years. Decent fruit concentration, and the 1996 acidity carries this wine much more interestingly than the previous '95 Vosne. Today at least, this is a more appealing package for the acid-lovers amongst us.

11/1/2004 (link)(Grivot Jean Nuits St.Georges Lavières) Medium plus colour without obvious aging. The nose still betrays a little oak, otherwise high-toned black fruit, some sweetness too. Lots and lots of fruit on the palate and a reasonable balance between the succulence of the fruit and acidity vs the more drying and slightly bitter tannins. Starts a little disjointed but puts on a better show after half an hour or so if a little moth puckering.
