February 4, 2023 - Deep, figgy, and largely over the hill. Perfect cork. Monstrosity of a wine. I will call this flawed, but there was no indication of any flaw. Just a very ripe, almost over the top wine that does not seem to be aging well.

March 11, 2022 - Decanted through a coffe filter for two hours with heavy sediment removed. A classic CDP that is nicely balanced and drinking very well. Other reviewers mentioned this may have peaked early, but this bottle still had prominent fruit, firm tannins, and pleasant garrigue.

November 12, 2021 - I'm so glad I only bought one bottle of this. I was one of the first to taste this from barrel in 2006 and thought it was stunning. What I tasted last night was incomprehensible and undrinkable. I bought this on release and have been cellaring it ever since. I presume it is representative of other bottles but have no desire to find out for sure.

November 9, 2021 - Nita's Cassoulet and Mostly CdP (Craig & Nita's Place): Yikes, I think Papies summed it up nicely. They sold their soul for the early drinking window. This has gotten progressively worse every time I've had it - to the point where I now find it undrinkable. In the early drinking days this held a lot pleasure, modern, lush and with some definition, and in fact it did have a sense of place, contrary to some more mid and now recent notes. At this point, it's a big, flammable mess; raisiny, blackberry liqueur, vanilla, very angular and suitable for flambeeing.

    July 4, 2020 - Dark ruby red.
    Vibrant berries, cassis, graphite, pepper.
Intensely flavoured, fleshy, good acid and balanced tannins, well structured. Velvety long finish with a little youthful zest. Flavours tend to the ripe jammy end of spectrum but texture is all quality and it has enough complexity to balance the fruit. Blueberry essence, ink, tar and licorice, gorgeous texture and lovely balance to the flavours. Easily a decade ahead of it.

(Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réserve des Deux Frères) Very dark red violet color; ripe, stewy black fruit, tar, oak nose; plush, ripe black fruit, oaky, oak spice; needs 5-plus years to integrate the oak; medium-plus finish

(DEUX FRERES Usseglio CdP) Re-order Dear Friends, We had two large containers arrive this week and they've finally been unloaded - with that comes whatever was left at the winery from some of our most popular offers of last year (when I receive a disproportionate number of re-order requests for something, I ask the winery to set aside whatever they can spare but it's usually only a few dozen bottles) - eventually, all of these small parcels show up in a container filled with other items and so it was this week - the margins on all of the items below are very low so FIRST COME FIRST SERVED up to 6/each until we run out. You can throw darts at this list - all are more than worth their salt and are considered among the very best wines of the world for their genre - the prices should be among the lowest available as well. ALL ARE DIRECTLY FROM THE SOURCE WITH PERFECT PROVENANCE - ALL HAVE ARRIVED (no pre-arrivals): 2007 Mas Mudigliza "Carmine" (Cotes Catalanes) This was the most popular under $20 offer of fall 2008 and for good reason - it jump started the 2007 "southern insanity" with one of the more quoted offers of last year. Decanter loved the 2006 version of this old-vine Grenache and David Schildknecht's comments on the 2007 didn't hurt: "... and wait until you taste the 2007 Carmine, which has yet to be bottled but is already showing amazing complexity and polish! The proprietors have already announced a significant price increase for that wine, and well they should given their outstanding achievements." (that statement was made during a review of the 2006 Carmine, which he gave 90pts to, so you can use your imagination for the 2007) - This is the last parcel of 2007 the winery had - "significant price increase or not" we raised the price by one cent over the 2006 - look for prices closer to $25 in the US. EXTREMELY LIMITED 2007 Mas Mudigliza "Caudalouis" Blanc (Cotes Catalanes) This is Mudigliza's most limited wine - think Vieux Telegraphe Blanc meets Knoll and you will see why each vintage sells out at the winery the first day of release... EXTREMELY LIMITED 2007 Casa Marin Sauvignon Blanc "Cipreses" (San Antonio) (W&S95) This wine also struck a chord with many of you - if I recall, it was the highest rated Chilean white wine ever by the Chilean press - this is the last of the 2007: (only a few dozen bottles left at this price). 2007 Peuch Auriol "Ad Hoc" (Herault) Basically, this is just a crazy artisanal value from the 2007 southern bounty - everyday wine for a number of palate preferences - VERY HARD TO FIND: 2005 Usseglio CdP "Reserve des Deux Freres" Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA SOFR7793 SOFR7794 SOFR7795 Chile5680 Rhone4689
