October 17, 2017 - All too often you buy a wine and store it for 15+ years only to have it be corked, or premoxed, or just a bit disappointing. But every so often you hit the jackpot.

Originally purchased in 2001 due to sfJoe lauding the beauty of aged white Clos Rougeard I always intended to open it when it was mature and he, Joe Dressner and Chris Coad were present. With all three having passed away while the wine aged I decided not to wait any longer and opened it with a group that I knew would enjoy and appreciate it. I'm told this was the last vintage of the Chace and their only white wine now is the Breze.

Really quite gorgeous, lush, complex, remarkably smooth texture married to minerally expansive flavors, full integrated oak. What are the fruits? Quince, strawberry, applesauce? Who cares, it was beautiful.

Brad would have hated it but he would have been wrong.

October 8, 2017 - What a treat - thank you Jay. I had yet to be convinced by a white Rougeard, but here we go - this is just stunning. Incredibly complex with beeswax, honey, gentle oaky notes, and rich white fruit all coming together seamlessly on a polished, medium weight frame. So long, so elegant - an amazing wine.

October 8, 2017 - Beautiful nose - floral, pollen, some red apple, bit of apricot, nectar, great drive and energy but the pollen part gives a bass depth. The palate has great focus - high acid, dry, a bit salty, nuts. Really wonderful mouthfeel. Dry nutty finish. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17/20.

March 28, 2013 - This wine is pretty rediculous. The color is still a light gold. The nose is spiced apples and exotic spices. The finish is just rediculous.
