Community Tasting Notes 12

September 29, 2022 - Decanted for two hours based on other TNs and prior experience. There was just a bit of sediment. Dark inky purple in the glass. Notes of graphite, earth and dark red fruits on the nose. These notes carried over to the medium bodied palate along with some spice. Any oak was integrated as were the tannins, and the acidity was relatively balancing.
Have to agree with several prior TNs that this wine needs time in the cellar + time in the decanter to provide maximum enjoyment over the next several years.

May 25, 2021 - I made a note on the bottle after tasting at the winery to hold until at least 2020. It is still a monster of a beast - powerful coarse tannins suggest it still has many years of life

It needs strong flavours to accompany it - it did well with a rich mushroom risotto and steak with an intense red wine sauce. Ok with camembert, would do better with something like Epoisses

July 12, 2020 - This was poor. No body to it whatsoever. 30 minute decant.

November 25, 2019 - Somewhat backward and rough right now showing more oak than fruit with gritty tannins. Improved overnight. Decant well in advance, Andouze overnight, or hold.

December 29, 2018 - Drinkable but quite dull and flat
