September 11, 2019 - Still great! Haven't changed much since last time. One of my favorite wines!

I read somewhere that "experts" recommended that this type of redwine should be cooled down to 15 degrees, so i gave it a try.

I recently got a winefridge for storing which has a temperature at 14 degrees by day & 16 degrees by night.

So I took the wine out, opened it and decanted it for 3 hours. Wow, that was stupid!

The temperature of the wine felt like i JUST took it out. The wine had all the usual notes and taste but there was more acidity than normal and a bit more harsh.

Therefore I recommend that all redwines must be at a 18-22 degree temperature before serving, except Pinot Noir, that needs to be served a bit chilled!!!

So if you have a wine fridge, make sure to take out your wine in time.

Despite this little experiment it's still one of my favorites.

NOSE: cigar wrapper; heavy garrigué; dark-fruited; not oaky; "classic" CdP.

    BODY: medium-light to medium bodied.

TASTE: lots of garrigué, and perhaps a hint of brett, but this is *not* a Pegau brett-bomb; fairly open and loose-knit; not tannic; not a big, gloppy bruiser; easy to drink; a much-needed reminder of why I used to love CdP, and a glimmer of hope that CdP like this is still being made. Drink now and over the next 10 years. Gut impression score: low 90s.

July 25, 2019 - This is a more subdued refined style of Pegau - very different then earlier vintages I have had such as 03, 05 and 10. After a one hour decant the wine is open for business. Pretty aromas of cherries, flowers and Provençal herbs rise from the glass. The palate is medium bodied translucent red fruited and almost Burgundian in style. Flavors of cherries, tobacco, herbs and modest spice predominate in a silky, refine style. This is not a particularly complex wine and I don’t think it will last a long time but it is really great drinking over the next 10 years

June 1, 2019 - Big and soft at the same time. More approachable but still lots of herbs du provence and meaty peppery finish.

May 12, 2019 - Wine has begun to open nicely, though I still suggest a bit of air time to open up further. A lighter bodied Pegau with intense deep ruby color. The nose detects with a whiff of leather, game, moss and some menthol. Flavors of dirt, garrigue, dark stone fruit and some berry. Despite it's lightness, the profile otherwise is definitely classic CdP. Smooth tannins and mild funk make this something to look forward to in the years ahead.
