March 25, 2024 - Pronounced nose intensity with notes of fresh herb, green bell pepper, white flowers, apple. Medium+ acidity and medium finish.

December 8, 2023 - Complex aromatics of smoky mineral, aniseed spice, preserved lemon and white peach. Dense and rich, but also linear. Has a steely backbone and great detail. Great drive and length. Seriously good now but oh so youthful.

November 25, 2023 - Absolutely brilliant. A glowing, reductive, flashy, wine. Impressive energy with great weight and development. This only improved and expanded over a few hours. Rich, dense, expansive palate with huge acid behind the rich ripe yellow fruit. Comparable to top Bâtard, these bottles were stunning. An oily texture. Cannot believe the power and drive here. Long electrifying finish. Wow, was not expecting that. Two bottles off the list!

July 10, 2023 - Très droit, c’est fin et frais, délicieux, léger manque de chair autour de l’os à l’aveugle mais on comprend à l’ouverture avec le cépage, mais très beau style et belle bouteille quand même. 90-91

Gorgeous bottle, tasted blind, still young in colour and on the palate.

February 20, 2023 - Monday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL): Bottle no. 960 of 15927. Served double blind. Definitely a Burgundian sensibility to it, but I was working based on the assumption that this was chardonnay. The nose was somewhat neutral, and despite a slightly waxy palate, this had some pleasant acidity to balance out that waxy texture. The trouble I had was placing the commune -- just couldn't really figure out where this belonged. Maybe recognizing that this was aligoté would have made this easier.

February 3, 2023 - Opened at the POB Paulee in Hong Kong. Chilled, then P&P.

The third bottle of Aligoté on our table, and though it was good, it fell short in my opinion compared to the Ponsot and the Arnaud Ente. No other extensive notes taken, and a solid wine in its own right, but just wasn't quite as expressive, or as well balanced as the other two respectively.

Definitely a step down from the d'Auvenay Sous Chatelet as well, which is probably the greatest Aligoté there is.

    October 24, 2022 - Robe jaune citron d'intensité moyenne.

    October 17, 2022 - Green-tinged colourlessly pale.
Initially quite buttery and oily textured, evolves with air to seaside, halide infused saline, mineral nose, lime blossom.
Predominantly saline mineral palate with yuzu and a hint of barley.

December 11, 2020 - Unbelievable delicious wine that really defies any attempts at description other than to say on nose and palate a very lively, complex mineral wine with mossy, earthy, ? Lichen ? overtones, so delicious it disappears in an instant, making me remorseful I bought 2 bottles rather than 2 cases when I had the opportunity... classic Leroy hedonistic pleasure. Absolutely delicious.
