July 2, 2023 - 2013 Revana Block 6 versus 2013 Gandona
Both my wife and I preferred the Revana. Paired with filet and bone in NY Strip on the grill. The Revana was more sultry, the Gandona was more reserved. By the end of the night I think we were splitting hairs as the Gandona kept gaining on the Revana. Both are drinking well right now with a 2-3 hour decant. FYI Revana threw off a ton of sediment. At the $250 price tag for both, I struggle with the QPR but at the secondary prices (which I bought them at), no complaints from me!1 person found this helpful Comment -

June 2, 2018 - Napa Cabernets + SQN + others (Home): Very similar to the 2012 Block 6 I had the week before. Dark black and some super dark red core fruit, with black currant, chocolate, black soil, and spice to round-out the flavor profile. Dark, sappy fruit and scorched earth notes washed up on the mid-attack and followed through on the finish. A fun and flavorful wine, with some darker, more earthy-gothic qualities that I found appealing.
This 2013 falls slightly behind the 2012 and 2014 versions of Block 6, as those two are sexier and more saturated than this 2013 in my opinion. The 2012 is more topless dancer (classy, but kinda not – in a good way), while the 2014 is straight ‘daddy didn’t love me’ stripper pole style – in the best of ways. The 2013 is more Dancing with the Stars on the sexy-a-meter. Although it is splitting hairs, the 2013 is missing some of the concentrated, inky characteristics found in the 2012 and 2014. Nevertheless, the 2013 still delivers. Drinking fine now, but hold for a few years with confidence if you feel like it. I personally don’t see a lot of improvement in store with this wine with any sort of significant bottle aging.1 person found this helpful Comment -

May 11, 2018 - This rich and intense Cabernet is drinking beautifully right now, especially after a decent decant, though it will likely be even better in another few years. I'm not sure if it's worth the premium, but it is a flashy and delicious wine.
Dark purple in color, full in body, welcoming nose of boysenberry, warm gravel, and baking spices. Lucious, layered tastes of blueberry pie, cherry, graphite, and cedar, with a hint of vanilla on the (still somewhat tannic) finish. 14.7% alcohol. Be sure to decant this for at least an hour or two, since it was almost unapproachable upon opening. It's still a mouthful after a few hours, but it's a formidable - and delicious - wine.
This is everything I like about the Revana Estate Cabernet - but more of it. It has a similar silky and polished profile, but it is sweeter, more dense, and more tannic. If you wanted the Estate with the volume turned up, this is the wine for you. 95-96, with upside in 2020 or beyond.
