July 4, 2023 - PnP with rough decant. Brick red with fallow brick-to-clear edge (rainbow w/ yellow brick on the way to clear). Nose of prunes, violets, subtle anise, rose water. On the palate: gentle cherries, tar, leather and sous bois. Absolute cream on the mouthfeel, with the incredibly silky tannins that are barely perceived on gums. Long finish of frutti di bosco, tanned leather and cherry liqueur. Amazingly vibrant despite the age...drank well over 3 days...color turned progressively towards brown as oxidation took its course, but new flavors did not emerge...rather fruit just faded and the tertiary flavors became more prominent.
