Community Tasting Notes 25

February 21, 2023 - This ok but no value at around 25 Euros. Has aromas of blackberries, forest fruits, vanilla hints and leather. Its medium bodied a bit foursquare lightly clovey juicy forest fruits palate has excellent depth and ends medium, fresh and tapering. 12.5%. Drink in next couple of years.

February 26, 2021 - The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are fast. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like raspberry, plum and sandalwood. It tastes like raspberry, plum and sandalwood. The body is light/medium. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

November 29, 2020 - M's bottle; and a great pinot from the grandson of Sassicaia's founder.
Unfiltered and complex with none of the weirdness I associate with Latin American pinots (albeit, mostly Chilean). Red and black raspberries, with cool-climate forest notes and shades of mint and loam. Blind would have guessed New Zealand, new world that is with a foot in the old. Got better and better in the glass. The community average drink-by of 2021 is off a few years based on what we tasted.

October 11, 2019 - If you are expecting a new world take on Pinot Noir (aka CA, OR or NZ), not so much. Seems to straddle the line between new and old world pinots. Also needs time to open. As with others, I found this much better on day two. Day 1 was a bit rustic, vegetal, even bitter, with fruit seeming to hide around corners, even though wine was open for an hour or more. By day two red fruit came forward with some peppery spice, medium to long finish. It took until day 2 to understand the good reviews. Two takeaways: drinking window shown here is too narrow and wine would benefit from 2+ hour decant
