Community Tasting Notes 5

October 1, 2023 - Allemand v Chave Los Angeles edition: I think this wine is starting to shut down a bit. It's losing a bit of that sweet sweet red berry on the nose and starting to get burlier and thicker on the nose and palate. Still fantastic density on the wine with a ton of sweet red fruit but it does feel like the structure of the wine is in the forefront. A very good wine still if you've never had it near release where it was an amazing wine.

August 15, 2023 - Opened my 3rd bottle of 2012 Le Dolium on 8/14/23. Bottles have been remarkably consistent, very expressive from the get go, juicy red and blue fruited. Previous CT notes indicate a need for decant but that’s not what I found. Just use a big bowl like a zalto burg. As the bottle breathes, the flowers and fruits recede a bit and the wine starts to show smoke & pepper and a nicely rendered bacon. This is such a well-balanced cote rotie, abv of 12.5%, not commonly found these days, alludes to mouth-watering tart freshness that accompanies all of the fruit. This was on par with red burgs consumed along side it (Roumier Les Cras 2002, HLignier Charmes 2002, etc) and at less than half the price (my cost) I can even claim good value here. Personally, I don’t necessarily seek value (sure I want best for my money, but first I want the quality) but this wine brings smile to my face every time i take a sip. Pairs great with Torien’s ridiculously delicious yakitori tasting.

November 21, 2022 - Decanted for 4 hours and it really needs it. Initially disjointed but after the air it just pops. The wine is unique in the amount of finesse that it shows, along with the class savory, game, olive note. Red cherry fruit with juicy acidity balance. Really delish.

December 29, 2021 - You know when you read about those stereotypical mid western stories of kids walking by a home and there nose picks up the scent of a warm pie sitting on a windowsill cooling.. this is what I imagine in my immigrant mind. Warm tiny red berries baked into a sweet delicious pie wafting on a windowsill . Transparent beautiful wine. Balanced perfectly on a beam. There’s a touch of crushed vitamin. But the fruit is delicate and generous with a buttress of tannin that gives it some body. Just like the 08 cordeloux

March 10, 2021 - PNP into Zalto Burgundy glass ("Root" day): Pale purple to the eyes.

Olive, sage and violet florals. Juicy purplish cherry and plummy fruits.

Ultra high definition Syrah here. Very refined style of "naturally done" Syrah in my view.

    94 points here.

Second round: More spices even, some VA detected on both nose and palate that is fully integrated and adds to the drinkability. Retain at 94 points solid.
