August 5, 2023 - Menthol nose, and taste as well. Very special chardonnay.

July 9, 2023 - Really exceptional white wine. I took a bottle to a lunch party and everybody who drank it was very taken with it. Has the sort of density that comes from low yields in the vineyard. It coats the mouth, you can’t glug this wine, it has too much flavour for that. Nicely mature now, I wouldn’t wait any longer if you have any in storage.

October 7, 2022 - More complex than my prior ones as the wine ages however the citrus taste is fading a little. Not sure if I prefer these younger or now. Both versions I love especially the menthol taste which is so distinctive.

July 11, 2022 - Those who were present at the tasting five years ago recognised the Catena Zapata White Bones Chardonnay directly. Back then, we characterised the wine as follows: "One of the participants would have liked to have had what is happening here in the nose as a "sauna infusion". That is not meant to sound disrespectful. It's just different. White Bones opens with aniseed and eucalyptus, fennel, cassis, sage and Earl Grey." And this mixture with less sauna but more cassis and mint could be clearly understood here again. Only now it all seemed much more coherent and much more elegant. The wine, whose grapes come from shell limestone deposits of the Adrianna Vineyard at 1,524 metres, had an elegant body, great acidity and lots of tension. If it wasn't so horrendously expensive, it would be a recommendation. But as it is, there is a lingering aftertaste.

October 4, 2021 - Yellow greenish color. Unmistakable nose of lime and menthol. Paired with shrimp pesto pasta it was great. The green/menthol notes of the wine were perfect with the herbal taste of the sauce. As this wine gets older it is developing weight but not loosing its spunk. All around great wine
