Community Tasting Notes 2

  • Burgnick Likes this wine: 90 points

August 4, 2020 - Sous bouis, damp earth, truffle, figs, autumn leave and dried fruit on the nose. It still retained sufficient fruit and acidity to enjoy, but clearly on its downtrend. Quite nice.

  • Pancreatitis Likes this wine: 93 points

    September 15, 2016 - Dark amber.
    Perfect from the get go!
Intense nose of forest floor, damp earth, beef stock, offal casserole, leather boots.
Gorgeously pure and well delineated flavours with a sweet vinous core of currants, underbrush, pine, menthol, all sorts of savoury nuances, rustic meaty stew, quite a prominent peppery component, silky mouthfeel, a fanning finish and great length.
1977 is one of those poorly rated vintages but every bottle I've had has been a peer to a '78 or an '85, and thankfully when you can find them they're extremely affordable due to the vintage reputation.
Verdict is that you can easily cellar Robert Chevillon 40-50+ years, even in a so called bad vintage.
