Community Tasting Notes 5

  • Alykhan V Likes this wine: 91 points

June 13, 2021 - Similar to previous notes
Upon opening, there was a lot of cedar on the nose
As the wine opened up, the oak notes receded into the background and the notes were of salted nuts and ripe lemon peel. Some savoury notes were beginning to show
    Very good concentration and length
This is good to cellar for a few more years, but is drinking very well now

January 28, 2021 - Probably just past its peak
Aromas of cedar, bruised yellow apples, and burnt citrus peel. With some air and as wine warmed in the glass, got some sated nuts
Palate is more fresh, with salinity and lemon
    Excellent length
    Drink up

October 21, 2020 - Great concentration. A fair amount of oak detected — cedar, in particular.
Aromas of unbuttered popcorn, butterscotch, and ripe citrus

    October 9, 2020 - Bottle 3 of 6
Noticeably more evolved than previous bottles, despite only a few extra months having passed
Aromas of lightly buttered popcorn and dried yellow fruits
More fruit on the palate than the nose — yellow apples and dried lemon peel
Mushroom notes on nose and palate
    Silky mid-weight texture
This is drinking great right now
    Outstanding length

April 23, 2020 - Bottles 1 and 2 of 6 — drunk one month apart. Same note for both

    Benefited from some aeration

Persistent and pronounced citrus and yellow apples + minerality. Salted nuts and butterscotch
    Gorgeous texture, like light milk
Some steeliness/metallic tastes on the palate. Nervy, electric, chiselled palate
    Round-the-mouth acidity
Excellent to outstanding length of citrus and steel

The fruits feel like they are beginning to fade so this wine is probably entering or in its prime now now
