July 5, 2022 - My Wine of the Night among a variety of French Wine (tied with the delightful 2014 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Chassagne-Montrachet Abbeye de Morgeot) at the summer Hollywood Wine Society tasting at Rendezvous. I haven’t tasted any Bandol in decades and that is definitely my loss. So much character, complexity and intrigue. The Cabbasou is 95% Mourvèdre, 4% Syrah, 1% Cinsault, considerably more Mourvèdre than their other blends. Lots of that elusive “garrigue.” Slightly coarse tannins add structure to the package. Not sweet or over extracted. For my taste, better that almost all of the Châteauneuf-du-Papes from further north.

December 12, 2021 - Tempier tasting and lunch (Restaurant Rijsel, Amsterdam, NL): A 1.5ha vineyard at the foot of the Tourtine hill. Real power and concentration, big tannins, deep and rich, marvellous energy, Premier Grand Cru level, so lively and youthful, a profound wine. I ordered a full bottle because I liked it so much!

November 7, 2021 - Lovely nose of dark black fruit, boot polish, leather, a floral hint.
Quite full but notably elegant mouthfeel, with minerality and freshness. Slightly alcoholic and a touch wild in a very appealing way.
Finishes on a redder fruit register, herbs, tannin, bracing acidity, excellent length and lift.
Beautiful overall balance and transparency to this wine. Magnificent.

September 9, 2021 - The last glass from a bottle that had been Coravined for a few days, though I could not discern much of an impact from that. Rustic and gamey, with mature red fruit, saddle leather and licorice, a touch jammy. Not the best Tempier I have had, but highly enjoyable in its own right.
