August 1, 2021 - My second bottle in three weeks. This is stunning wine. I have always had Savennieres as the dull dog of the Loire: heavy, plodding, unctious (Chenin blanc), as opposed to the lighter-footed Sauvignon blanc artists around Sancerre.
This wine is indeed slightly unctious, but that unctiousisity (help !) is held in check by imposing acididity and, above all, by the quality of the wine making.
Bien fait domaine des Forgues! -

July 3, 2021 - This is a quite wonderful wine, and representative of what has been happening in the Loire over the past 10 years. Chenin blanc stated in this purity may not be to everyone's tast for this wine is slightly demanding in its intriguing but angular flavours of burnished-fig and slighly rotten cashew.
But what complexity! And something that I can't put my finger on: a depth of statement that seems to transcend the flavours of the wine (some which are not necessarily pleasant - in classical gustatory terms).
But it is possible that the structuration of those flavours may be be more important to our understanding of the wine than the flavours themselves.

And I would say to - S******N below, wir brauchen Weine die nicht eckig sind. Und anstrengend zu trinken?
Give up drinking, mate. -

August 10, 2020 - Aroma of red apples and honey. On the palate, red apples, honey, ginger. Finishes with searing acidity and more than a touch of flinty minerality. There's a mild oxidation thing going... I don't know if it's intentional or not.. I still enjoyed it.. the searing acidity in the palate and the waxy body made it comparable in character maybe to Cune Monopole. I've had other vintages of this wine and that character wasn't really there, or at least so pronounced. It could 100% pass as intentional but I don't know if it was or not. I don't have another bottle to compare.

July 27, 2020 - No formal notes taken. Drinking well presently and dominated by mineral character with full palate and great acidity.
