October 27, 2018 - Matter of taste (London): Light and delicate nose with red sweet fruit. Sappy and fruity with very good acidity.

May 26, 2018 - First winery on day two in Sonoma was Donelan Family Wines in Santa Rosa with Meredith. Second red was the Tripp's Block Pinot Noir which comes from the Perli vineyard in the Mendocino Ridge at an elevation of 1550 feet. Aged for 18 months in 30% new French oak barrels and only 246 cases produced.

Medium to deep ruby red. Layered nose with some light baking spices on the attack as well as some red cherries, followed up by cedar and damp forest floor. Medium plus acidity (7/10) and medium bodied. Balanced tannins as well with noted of red cherries, dried strawberries and bramble berries to boot. A bit of cinnamon and cedar as well. Dry with a lingering finish. Drink till 2024.

December 1, 2017 - Really nice pinot by Donelan, dark fruit on the nose, first impression on the palette blueberry and raspberry, evolved nicely over the evening (definitely decant), finish cherry pie.

September 5, 2017 - Was tightly wound upon opening. 30 minutes in it started to exhibit wonderful red raspberry and cranberry notes. After an hour, wow, had grown into a spectacular wine. A wonderful note of eucalyptus on the finish. A really special wine.

March 29, 2017 - Popped and poured. This is a very nice pinot, understated, elegant, initially shy on the nose but then beginning to open, with excellent fruit on the palate with full, rich, black cherry flavors, and an awesome finish. Has nice grip and great fruit. I'm sure this will age well, given its fine balance and acidity. 4-12-17-8: 91/100.
