July 20, 2013 - Rare Wine Dinner (Sydney, Australia): A pretty and perfumed nose of violet, raspberry and cinnamon plus a bit of briar, smoke and intense licorice. The palate is both complex and enticing, it is helped along by nearly resolved tannins that give the wine much needed structure and balance for the amazingly pure red fruit flavor. Held well in the glass for half an hour then seemed to start fading.

May 22, 2010 - The Greatest Pig Roast Ever?? (Chicagoland): Aromatics of primarily dried red fruits, earth, and animal. Soft on the palate; tannins are gone, time to drink up. Fun to try.

May 22, 2010 - Birthday Bash with Pig (Chicagoland): Muted aged red fruit and spice. Surprisingly simple, but still alive. Well-rounded, and certainly fully mature. OK.

January 28, 2009 - sfwine: Northern Rhône Syrah (San Francisco): Mature nose of savory red fruit, blood/iron, meat. Great rich, viscous texture in the mouth, with savory-sweet red fruit, dried herbs, and hint of sweet/caramel oxidation. Certainly mature and perhaps running on fumes, but so complex and silky, with great length. Lasted twenty to thirty minutes in the glass before starting to decline. A wonderful wine, regardless.

August 29, 2006 - No notes from 1 week ago when I drank. Vibrant raspberry fruit. Very mildly tannic. Not particularly complex, but highly enjoyable.

    (M. Chapoutier Hermitage) Bricking light medium brown red with clear meniscus; lovely, mature but focused lamb and beef jus, sweet smoke, dried berry, white chocolate and light roasted fruit nose; silky textured, tasty, mature, sweet smoke, sweet lamb jus and oregano palate, with grip; medium-plus finish
