Community Tasting Notes 10

January 10, 2024 - It's been over 5 years since the last note on this wine but most of what you read below still holds. Lots of acid, sour cherry and cranberry fruit and quite yummy. And still young. For me, Burgaud bojos are on the intense end of the spectrum. This is an almost ten year old Beaujolais Villages and I think it still needs more time. With luck, I hope to see what some of his Morgons are like at 20 years - have a ways to go to find out.

    November 22, 2018 - PopnPour, tasted over 4 hrs
-nearly opaque dark red with purple rim
-expressive typical Beaujolais nose of bubble gum berry and stone
-med/med+ acidity, med/med- weight focused dark berry with a bit of earthy influence, med- tannins and trace heat on the average length finish
    -drinking well now, excellent value

  • Eudemis Likes this wine:

July 25, 2018 - 13.5% alcohol. Short synthetic (reconstituted) cork. Dark colour for Gamay with a youthful purple hue. Served slightly cool on account of the hot weather.
Powerful sensuous nose of dark currants and violet. The mouth is just as good, with succulent flavours matching the aromas and no shortage of balancing acidity; some wildness too, which is most attractive. This wine has stuffing well beyond its status.
I really cannot understand why the 2015 Beaujolais vintage is talked down in some quarters; sure, the wines are slightly broader than normal, but they are not in any way flabby, at least where the best producers are concerned, and why bother with the others ?
    A repeat purchase for sure.

September 14, 2017 - Did not enjoy - not too keen on BOJOs at all but had this in the cellar - certainly drinkable but too acidic to notice much more than an overall berry flavor

August 14, 2017 - Very good for the price. Lots of depth for a villages. Good QPR and food wine.
