April 1, 2024 - Opened up and was much better on day 2. Enjoyable and at peak drinking now, won't improve further.

March 9, 2024 - My last two bottles. Decanted 3 hours. Compared to my 3/28/21 tasting, the nose has developed considerably, w/ bruised red cherry, dried black plum, dried herbs, forest floor and sweet baking spices. Dry, with med (+) to high acidity and med to med (+), resolving tannins. The alcohol is high at (14%) but well integrated. At this point, I think it has peaked, with the fruit seemingly aging and fading faster than the oak and tannins.

December 24, 2023 - Much better than a previous bottle a few years ago, showing a nice evolution in taste and now in its drinking window. Bright red colour with depth, nose with cherries and prune, well integrated taste but a fragile balance that evolved with at times more of the somewhat higher acidity switching to the ripe kernel with soft fruit.

March 28, 2021 - 100% single-vineyard Merlot, made in an international style but with an Old World finesse and elegance. Med ruby, with a hint of garnet on the rim. Aromas of red cherry, black plum, herbs, mocha and sweet baking spices. It sees 18 months of ageing in oak tonneaux, of which 30% new, which imparts complexity without being overly invasive. Dry, with ample fruit, consistent with the nose, med (+) to high acidity and tannins. The alcohol is high at (14%) but well integrated. The tannins are medium (+) and still somewhat grippy. Overall, a developing, full-bodied wine, with the fruit and the structure to age well for at least another 6-8 years. A good value when compared to the prices of other Merlot-based Super Tuscans, not to mention wines from the Pomerol.

January 31, 2021 - 100% merlot. No sediment. Clear mid ruby. Aromas of cherry, blackcurrant, tobaco and sweet spices. Wine is dry, medium+ body, medium+ acidity, medium+ grippy tanins. Finish is medium+. Wine is developing. Big and balanced wine with ability to age 5-7 more years.
