May 4, 2010 - some weeknight Vosne Romanees (Gemini Bistro, Chicago IL): nose: nice and precise nose of lemon peels, minerals, white fruits, bits of pears and a touch of buttery tones. Very good depth, and holding back a slight bit right now

taste: very good medium/full feel with medium acidity and balanced tones of pears, minerals, citrus, white fruits and a bit of buttery tones. Very well balanced with a clarity in the tones

overall: A real good feel gives this a nice backdrop with real good aromatics and good acidity. Seems like another year or two and it should really open up.

April 3, 2010 - Pleasant soft minerality and oak. White fruit. Long smooth finish. Outstanding wine.

February 4, 2010 - Wow. This has taken on a butteriness that the first bottle we had just didn't display. It's pleasant, not over the top. Also has some pear and a hint of lemon. The minerality has a certain kind of saltiness to it. Long smooth finish. Outstanding.

August 11, 2009 - National Day Dinner (Kome): Quite rich with lovely walnutyness. Buttery and opulent with vanilla beans and showcasing a somewhat californian sunshine napa chard but I am very happy drinking this. Also has some mineral laced ripe sweet lemon fruits.

August 9, 2009 - National Day Dinner (Kome, Keppel Club): This had been opened for about 3 hours by the time I got to it, and boy was it ever singing! Beautiful nose with great aromatics of fresh flowers, nuts, vanilla pods, peachy fruit and a nice minerality. Absolutely Puligny, and almost haunting in its loveliness. I really liked the palate as well. Lots of buttery nuts, some pears and melon, underpinned by a nice clean lime and mineral backbone. It weakened a little towards the mid-palate, but really took off into a long, powerful finish with clingy mineral and clean pear flavours augmented by more of the flower tones that I picked up from the nose. Lovely.

(Mischief & Mayhem Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts) A much deeper nose of exotic hardwood that also becomes diffuse, but then tightens again to show a creamy edge. Weightier and less mineral than the Garenne, the presentation is rounder - again a creamy edge but with 'just right' acidity. The action for this wine is all at the front-end - particularly as the nose tightens and becomes more interesting - super - but completely different to the Garenne
