April 20, 2017 - JJ Prum - 2015 range tasting: Fruit aromas here show as quite tropical with pineapple and mango, as well as apple and grapefruit. The sweetness asserts itself strongly on the palate and while the focus is pulled back in across the mid palate, this ends up feeling a little soft at the moment in comparison to the other wines. Despite that I think if this gets time to settle down it should come around.

February 15, 2017 - Whitefruit, minerals and floral notes on the nose along with an almost perceptible crispness. Medium bodied (8% ABV) and slightly soft at first, but as it warmed, the acidity intensified noticeably. Peach, green apple and melon upfront, along with a variety of additional white orchard fruits behind. Wonderful richness through the middle that showed as depth, rather than sweetness. Acidity comes in towards the back and provides a nice transition to the finish along with some pleasantly tart citrus notes. Acidity, floral and light mineral notes provided the finishing touches. I would agree with prior reviewer that with a bit more acidity, this wine could've gone from outstanding to stellar. I was encouraged by the mid-body complexity shown at such a young age and how the acidity became more prominent as it warmed. I will probably pick up some more and try again in Summer 2018.

November 22, 2016 - AP 10 16. The very first bottle of Joh Jos Prum 2015 that I had the great opportunity to open. Took a day to settle into it's groove and showed itself to be the greatest Badstube Spatlese I've had the chance to try. As opposed to Schaefer's Domprobst Spatlese #5, this was more subtle, lighter, and a more pronounced mineral undercurrent. Beautifully aromatic, very complimentary to a wide range of food, and every sip of this oozes joy. The only thing keeping my score from being higher is the fact that I'm kind of an acid-head when it comes to Riesling and I think a touch more acidity would really make this sing. I'm running into the amazing problem of having found too many great wines from 2015 that I want to buy for the cellar. But this will be one of them.
