Indeed the painful oak tannin and unintegrated vanillin have subsided. And if you can ignore the high ABV, underneath all that there's a nice dusty juiciness.
I am still not sure this repaid cellaring -

April 23, 2023 - Wow. Best and last bottle. A couple of previous bottles already started showing their age but this was stellar. Yes, it is ripe, even very ripe, but the structure holds it all together. Big, rich, structured wine, in a really nice spot right now. Tastes like a $50 bottle. Great experience.
