  September 22, 2023 - Wow. Great improvement over earlier bottles (May 2020 and September 2022). At this point simply delicious. Nose is subtle, hint of gooseberry (but not mistaken for a SB). It’s on the palate it happens. Rich complexity with a fruit palate that starts out with some peach, evolves over gooseberry and ends with lime, just a hint of bitterness and minerality that stays in a long (for a white wine) and attractive finish. Balance acidity and overall a great package. Seldom experienced such aging upside in a white wine (while clearly also some bottle variation, the September 2022 bottle was very pedestrian by comparison).

  « D’un étonnant raffinement considérant le chêne utilisé, cet élégant alvarinho est un peu discret et très concentré. La finale mordante et pénétrante démontre toutefois que ce n’est pas l’alvarinho que vous connaissez. Elle se prolonge et persiste, assumant magnifiquement bien son boisé. »

  Vigne d'au moins 12 ans d'âge.
  Partial de-stemming. Skin maceration followed by fermentation on skins for some hours. Fermentation finishes in used, 400-litre barrels. Undergoes “batonnage” in the same barrels for 9 months on fine lees.
  Tiré à 3000 bouteilles.
  
  Post-Halloween round, avec le poulet portugais de Ma Poule mouillée.
  Why not un bon Vinho verde.

  Voyons celle-ci. À noter qu'il n'y a aucune mentionne sur les étiquettes qu'il s'agit de la cuvée Curtimenta. En fait, si je me dis au site web, c'est l'étiquette de la cuvée Escolha, comme ça SAQ N° 12631408.
  Un peu étrange. J'ai du y aller avec le code UPC. C'est aussi le Curtimenta que j'ai commandé.
  
  Robe paille aux reflets un peu verdâtres.
  Nez un peu pétrolé, lime et zeste, silex. Avec l'aération, on devine davantage le boisé issu du batonnage.
  La bouche est aussi intéressante. Attaque un peu amère mais suivi d'une acidité moyenne et bien fraiche, orange sanguine, lime, bois vert, puis texture un peu grasse presque huileuse, belle longueur.
  C'est très bien fait. En somme, je constate un Alvarinho où l'élevage a fait la différence.
