Community Tasting Notes 13

April 24, 2021 - Long been a fan of Jaffurs but as a Canadian I only have so much space to bring wines back since nobody will ship to the north, and on every prior visit I have chosen a grenache to come back with me. This syrah won me over in the tasting room, and I clearly made the right choice as this was just as enjoyable as a Jaffurs grenache and one of the better syrahs I've had in a while. Great mix of darker fruits, a touch of pepper and some umami, with a fragrant floral nose.

March 2, 2021 - At just the right age, perhaps Jaffurs' best Syrah yet. This will restore your faith in the grape.

December 4, 2020 - Nose: blueberry, earthy notes with smoke with just somes sign of age with macerated fruit

Med body, med acid, alcohol and tannins have resolved

Somewhat muted but had light pepper, savory notes but straight forward blue/dark fruit and ripe berries. Showed more age than expected but solid wine.

Drink now over next 3 years

April 20, 2020 - I thoroughly enjoyed this wine and enjoyed it over 2 nights, with the best showing on night 2 and later on in night 1. I concur with Galloni and Jeb on this wine. No formal notes but a really cool wine that only got better with air.

March 20, 2020 - Newly opened still retains good tannins, and softens after 30 min or so. Spice, dark fruits, and a little vanilla on the nose. Leather, spice, and woodsy fruit on the palate with a lovely long finish. Another fine example of Santa Barbara’s Syrah.
