  February 12, 2021 - Very good; PnP. Oh, dear, is this special. Lovely garnet color that's clear and quite bright. The aromas have this subtle brilliance to them - in a few moments, once tasted, I see that this extends to the palate, as well. This walks the line as well as any between rustic and what some may call polished. To be clear, there's nothing remotely modern about this wine. The wine is only ever handled by hand or foot - no pumps. These wines age for 36 months in 10 or 20 HL botte that are between 15 and 30 years old; the vines are ~ 30-60 yrs. The farming here is sustainable (the taste suggests this is more strict than liberal interpretation, and, sadly, there's only 2,5 hectares, which results in a tiny yearly production of ~ 200 cases. The wine is typically a blend of 98% Spanna/Nebbiolo and 1% each of Vespolina and Uva Rara. Hauntingly beautiful, not unlike the finest Burgundy wines. This is drinking perfectly now; structure suggests another 10 years at this level, probably more. Mid-way through my first glass, I decided I absolutely have to visit on this upcoming trip. 13,5% abv., natural cork. highly recommended
