October 27, 2023 - This drinks more like a northern Rhône Syrah than a California one. Black and red fruits on the nose and palate, though much more savory than fruity. White pepper, briny meat (thinking prosciutto or peppered salami), and a very very subtle hint of olive.

The complexity of this wine is outrageous, and yet the fruit is still so fresh! Tastes on the young side, without the Tannins getting in the way as too grippy.

Overall, a stellar wine that can easily go another 5-7 years.

October 23, 2022 - very enjoyable; side by side with a 2010 cornas from Jaboulet; i preferred this; this was more medium+ bodied and had def more bright red fruit at its core; longer finish; just more oomph in the right places IMHO

May 30, 2022 - Deep purple. Medium intensity aromas of blackberries, black currants, vanilla, toast, black tea, damp earth. On the palate the wine is dry with medium plus acidity, medium plus ripe, fine grained tannins, high alcohol, and full body. The flavor intensity is medium plus with flavors of blackberries, black currants, vanilla, cinnamon, toast, black tea, damp earth, some dried berries. Very ripe fruit. Finish is medium plus w/black fruit, however, alcohol is warming on the palate. Very good wine with complexity, intensity, concentration and length. However, the warming alcohol on the palate keeps it from reaching outstanding.

May 2, 2022 - Tasted side by side with 2013 K Syrah Cattle King. On opening, both were similar. The DuMol fruit was characterized by plum and cherry with a fair bit of acidity and tannins. With time, the K developed more depth and darker brooding fruit, with otherwise similar typical ripe syrah profiles.
