Community Tasting Notes 4

April 27, 2024 - Black fruit with a lot of tannins, which are well integrated. The wine is perfectly accessible, but has lots of years remaining.

October 22, 2022 - No formal note but it was good, not great. It’s a tiny bit thin on the mid-palate and doesn’t seem to have the grip/stuffing to compete w/ the big boys. Perhaps needs a bit more age to unwind? I will wait at least 4-5 years before re-visiting…

October 14, 2021 - I bought a lot of this wine and frankly there was a period where I was worried. I bought the wine from Lyle Fass and tried it a few weeks after it arrived and was impressed enough to purchase quite a bit more. Then I tried it again in 2019 or so - it seemed unbalanced and lost the impressive vibrancy it had initially. Just had it again tonight and it has really improved. The nose is still not mind blowing, but the palate is now deep and rich with cherry compote center. The cherry is quite long and doesn’t seem at all extracted. Obviously no secondary flavors at this point and I don’t have enough experience with this wine know if they will develop. It went well with my wife’s impossible meat bolognese with cilantro. And it faired well afterward as an unsweetened desert wine - the essence of perfect fruit.

December 13, 2019 - Mouthful of ripe black fruit saturates the palate. Firm structure, juicy acids. Surprisingly new world tasting, with the fruit dominating. Found a little old-world charm. The wine had been thoroughly aerated before returning to the bottle and taken to dinner, but I feel even more air is needed.
