February 2, 2024 - Thirty minutes in the glass before tasting. Deep dark magenta color. Brown sugar, strawberry jelly, and bay leaf. Very dry palate, with good acidity. Full, lower intensity tannins on the longish finish.

#1WineLover and I a wonderful tasting here at Seavey, although most of the wines were not my style. All the reds lean toward Bordeaux. The property is beautiful, with a working farm.

December 27, 2023 - This wine at ten years has gone from a dumb phase to something close to perfection. What a transformation.

March 9, 2022 - Return to Napa; 3/6/2022-3/13/2022 (Wineries and various restaurants): Again that lovely old school restrained style of wine making. Darker fruits. More heft to it than the Caravinas. There's tannin here and a bit more structure and a wine that is made to lay down for some time.

April 5, 2020 - Decanted for an hour and then we had it over 2. Frankly not much evolution during that time. This was the perfect wine for what we had, BBQ of rich in fat , 7yr ex dairy simmental with a good 60d dry age on it. Outside, coal and on a sunny 20C in covid lock down London. Any other wine would have failed, would have lost its presence and also a softer wine would have been charmless. Alas this 14.6% Napa force, purple on the rim and with good oak albeit well assimilated. Young and fresh but also round and with a silky side. There is a time and a place for a wine ( one needs to adjust of age of the wine too) but we felt this was perfect for this occasion. 90 but a very solid wine with good ageing ahead of it.

March 6, 2020 - '14 Napa Cab Friday Night Coravin Tasting: Some earthiness and iodine aromas with a bit of saline as it opened up. Blackcurrant and tart cherry with a short finish. Not a lot going on with this wine and with the lack of structure not sure how much it will improve. A bit disappointing. The body seemed to fade from this as time went on so maybe this would have been better earlier on right from the pour.

April 7, 2019 - Napa April 2019; 4/6/2019-4/9/2019 (Napa, CA): Just a hard wine to drink right now, you better be patient enough to cellar for 15 years for it to come around. There’s nice fruit but it’s very tannic and acidic without much else coming through.

December 4, 2017 - Initially 91 with Bordeaux (on steroids) and a bit of Rhone ripe sunshine funk. Maybe 92. After an hour it still falls into a nicely extracted and thoroughly enjoyable lushious place.
