August 27, 2021 - Make sure to open and decant this wine as it improves significantly with a couple of hours of aeration. Voluptuous is not a word that usually comes to mind with Malbec but really fits LM's rendering. Air brings out its spice and structure. See my note dated August 23 for more descriptors.

August 23, 2021 - Pnp. Dark. Mulberry and pomegranate, not tightly knit. Fairly soft and supple for this producer and Malbec. Needed to air longer, as it acquired more bite and spine after an hour. Saved half in a 375 for a later note.

April 20, 2019 - Wow. Closer to Bordeaux than Argentina -- with opulent CA mountain fruit. Dominated by fresh primary aromas and flavors, but also revealing complexity. Deep crimson color, dark plum, floral notes close to violets and dried red roses, Bordeaux blackberry purée and graphite. In the mouth pure and impeccably balanced fruit with good structure more from fleshy acidity than exaggerated tannin. The palate has ample texture, again an element of puréed fruit, and a finishing note of black pepper. Very striking on opening and the enormous mouthful of fruit is such that it almost completely masks the tannin, pepper, leather, and rubber. I'll let this breathe all day and add a note. Above 90 for sure.

After 4 hours. Now precise and with focus. Pomegranate-cranberry-dark cherry red fruits power the wine. Combines firm acidity, freshness, dark chocolate, and muscle. Cocoa and powdered sugar tannins. Rubber gone. Depth of flavor is amazing. 15 to 20 second finish. Great wine. 94

February 13, 2018 - The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, blueberry, prune, fig, black currant (cassis) and black olive. It tastes like black currant (cassis) and blueberry.

October 7, 2017 - Essence of blackberry: almost as much leaf and seed and earth as juice. Aromatic and delicious, a nice persistent finish. I’m a fan of their syrahs, so I added one to my order just to try it out (not really being that interested in malbec otherwise), and now I wish I’d bought two or three more.

(Lagier Meredith Malbec) Saturated, very dark red violet color; blackberry, violets, graphite nose; delicious, blackberry, violets, graphite palate; once again the best domestic Malbec I've tried; long finish
