Community Tasting Notes 9

  • Jzizzle Likes this wine:

March 31, 2021 - My last bottle. Not a lot of fruit left, but has shifted more towards the dark end of things. Still plenty of tannins on the finish. Its a bit dusty or chalky (in a good way) and perhaps some light tar notes. Has developed more sense of power with time and some attractive elements. A fun unfolding for inexpensive wine.

February 3, 2020 - The trend continues: this wine now pushing 90 for me, but that is probably a tad generous excitement from seeing a <$20 bottle age so nicely. The balance is not perfect, but this is enjoyable and nicely textured. The young fruit notes that I didn't like have developed into something more savoury and to my taste. In a nice place now.

September 1, 2018 - Still needs a year or two....

May 31, 2018 - This wine was considerably more enjoyable than my memory, and I think has added a lot of age-related complexity in the last year and a half (or some bottle variation). It is in a nice place now, with the fruits quite mellowed and now more about texture and leathery spice, with a nice structure holding things together. In a nice place, but I think still some time ahead too. 89-90

April 22, 2017 - better than the previous bottle in fruit and concentration. decent fruit on the nose that continues to the palate with new leather and a wisp of tobacco. firmly structured.
