November 5, 2023 - 15% alcohol. G 80%, S 10%, Mrvdr 7%, Cnslt 3%. Good long cork with tartrate deposits but very little wine penetration. The colour is dark enough but it shows significant thinning at the edge of the rim.
The nose is dark fruited but lively with some garrigue; very pleasant but not that distinctive. Similar in the mouth with liquorice and stewed fruit added and plenty of juiciness, but the alcohol impinges in the finish. In the end, there is not enough depth here to offset the alcohol; and this is 2015, I shudder to think what recent vintages might be like if they carried on with the same practices.
That being said, and to end on a positive note, this bottle was an enjoyable companion to Côte de Boeuf; a guilty pleasure then, but not one to be repeated. -

December 20, 2020 - 15% alcohol. G 80%, S 10%, Mrvdr 7%, Cinsault 3%. Very good long dense cork with minor tartrate deposits. Deep colour with minimal thinning at the edge of the rim.
The nose is fragrant and engaging with dark cherries and macerated berries.
The mouth is very assertive too, showing that note which is typical of CndP and that I would describe as hot-metal-in-a good-way (I am sure that there are better descriptors out there, and I believe that it comes from the G component), and by the way this is also on the nose. Macerated red fruit again. Very good grip and fine acidity in the finish.
This wine is already very enjoyable even though it is not fully together at this early stage; give it another three years and it will be more integrated. The alcohol does not protrude unduly, but its effects are felt nevertheless (do not plan on any physical activities afterward !); no perceptible oak.
Very successful, and a repeat purchase (pretty good value too in the low twenties in €). -

July 5, 2020 - Overripe, almost cooked red fruit - raspberries, cherries. A little raisinated. A faint hint of dried rosemary and thyme. Medium + bodied, high alcohol. You really can't beat this for the price.
