September 27, 2021 - By the glass at Hattaway’s on Alder in Walla Walla. Nose is so dusty and dark: blueberries, blackberries, some heat on the end. Palate though is super smooth: ripe plums, more blackberries, polished leather, hint of cocoa. Good now but give it 3-5 years and it could be great.

August 17, 2019 - PnP. Cedar, cassis, vanilla and spice. Good lift and smooth tannins, this wine is elegant with no rough edges, but not a ton of personality either. New oak and nice fruit. Still young.

December 23, 2018 - Stunning effort by John Abbott! On the nose it starts all fruit, with hibiscus/tart cherry and then after an hour it transitions to pencil lead and saline. On the pallete same story; black current and stewed dark fruit that gives way to saddle, wet cedar and a bit of licorice. Tasting great now and looking forward to revisiting in a few years.

August 3, 2018 - Decanted about 1 hour. Nice spice, pepper and earth. Hints of graphite. The fruit does not overpowering the wine but is delicious. Excellent balance with a long, smooth finish.

December 26, 2016 - Deep, dark reddish-purple in color, bordering on opaque. Full, forward & attractive nose of youthful, ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty, floral & herbal notes, minerals, spices, some cocoa & a hint of toasted oak/vanilla in the background. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, youthful, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with earthiness, cocoa, herbs, spices, minerals, toasty oak & vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting and extended airing but will develop further with additional aging.
