February 1, 2023 - Decanted 45 minutes. Sadly this showed a strong unappealing acid/ balsamic nose. Possibly volatile acid. We set it aside rather than including it in our 2001 Brunello tasting. The next day I came back to it and the unpleasant nose had blown off somewhat and the palate shows a wine of considerable finesse and interest. Burgundian in style, with beautiful silky texture, as others have noted. But the nose is initially off-putting and if this is a representative bottle, the wine will have few fans. Bought on release and unmoved in my cellar for 17 years. My only bottle. I can only suggest a vigorous six hour decant and/or wait until the third day. We substituted Canalcchio di Sopra which turned out to be an upside surprise.

September 18, 2021 - This seemed a bit short and past it's best. It had decent black fruit in the front of the palate but wasn't really balanced with the earthy elements or acidity in the finish. I had hoped it would show better with the steak, but kinda the same. Decent but I have has much better from Salicutti. Hopefully just some bottle variation.

July 24, 2020 - Perfection after 90 minute open cork. Regal and elegant.

May 13, 2020 - Perfect cork, fill. Color is near brown, the wine, despite a great bottle condition, is gone. Gone by at least 3-5 years, sadly

May 11, 2020 - A solid Brunello with fading cherry fruit, some wet dog, a little baking spice and leather. To be charitable, it’s fully mature, but I would say more realistically it’s a bit past its prime, although still a quite enjoyable food wine. I would drink now and over the next couple of years....
