January 13, 2022 - My experience is completely different from the three previous reviewers. I found this to be a wonderfully balanced feinherb that structures its sweetness around a strong acidic spine. At 6 years old secondary notes are starting to emerge to add just intriguing complexity. I wish I had more.

April 8, 2020 - Herbaceous, medium dry, green apples and fava beans. If Gruner and a Riesling Kabinett had a baby, it might taste like this. Not flawed, but not my cup of tea. Still, this would play well with a vegetarian meal-hearty lentils, stir-fry, roasted veg gratin.

    April 22, 2017 - Tasted blind in Kabinett Cup 2015. 10,5% alcohol.

Watery neutral green color. Open and expressive, but also somewhat one-dimensional nose with aromas of fresh green apples and subtle, perfumed floral aromatics. The wine is off-dry to medium-dry on the palate with steely minerality, nice freshness and crisp flavors of ripe apples, apple peel bitterness and some apple blossom. The wine feels pretty balanced, but also very youthful and straightforward. High acidity. The finish is lively and crisp with medium-long flavors of ripe apples, some herbal greenness and a hint of wet stones.

Overall this was a pleasant and balanced Riesling, but also one that was very straightforward and one-dimensional at this point. Despite its great balance, there was very little of anything interesting here, which is why this wine really didn't hold well in competition. This wine received no points in our Kabinett Cup of 32 Rieslings from 2015, but I am sure it was only because this wine was so darn young - Stein wines usually take a lot of time to come around. Somewhat unimpressive now, but will most certainly get better with age - let it age for at least 6-8 more years.

    October 15, 2016 - 10,6% alcohol, 13,5 g/l residual sugar, 8,3 g/l acidity.

Medium-deep lime green color. Very restrained nose with vague aromas of ripe citrus sweetness, some earthy spice and an understated, musty nuance. Possibly corked? The wine is medium-bodied and medium-dry on the palate with quite pronounced acidity, but flavor-wise the wine is completely mute. Just some steely minerality, but no obvious fruit flavors. The finish is long, slightly chalky and quite bitter with no fruit flavors.

Apart from the slightly musty nose, the wine didn't show any off-flavors. It was just completely dead. All the people tasting the wine agreed it was corked, but not to the extent you could actually notice TCA - just enough for it to kill the fruit. The wine was very reasonably priced at 8,50€.
