Community Tasting Notes 15

February 24, 2022 - Pale garnet and rather dull color
Medium aromas of fresh red fruit and cherry candy with dark floral and fennel notes - aromas unusual in that they seem to come and go with time in the glass
Medium bodied with palate of red and blue fruit and distinct mineral notes/ damp earth - overall though palate is dominated by green stemmy notes
Medium plus tannins but I think these are primarily green tannins from stems - medium alcohol and medium plus acidity with fairly short length
Nice enough wine but not showing as well as previous bottles and dominated by these green notes
Drink now as I don't see this improving

    February 20, 2022 - Blind tasting
Medium garnet, filtered. Looked dull in the glass
Aromatics medium. Ripe plum, odd brown paper versus dust. No oak, florals or minerals. Seemed odd to me. After a quick pour again after the bottle was revealed, I did note some brief fresh crunchy fruit, but short lived
Palate has medium body. Acid medium +. Tannins medium, fine grained on teeth and gums with a green stemmed quality retrospectively suggesting whole cluster. Chalk, rock and tart raspberry.
Finish has medium length. Balance to tannins.
    Dry glass notes of cardboard
I had no idea what this was on the blind tasting. I wildly guessed a younger Nebbiolo given the structure. In retrospect, this did have the crunchy fresh fruit I usually see with cru Beaujolais but overall did not impress me as typical as this quality was fleeting at best.
Drink now, don't see further aging potential.

August 22, 2020 - My, my, this is good. After sitting in the fridge for a day, the bottle half-emptied, it is doing a good impersonation of a Clos Vougeot....but at a tenth of the price. I wish I'd bought cases of this stuff.

July 22, 2020 - Very nice wine. It took some time to open up and drank much better in the second day. You can taste the right amount of fruit and berries on the from end and a nice smooth tannin on the back end. The body is nice as well. Not big and full but not light either. All around a pretty good wine for $18.
