June 29, 2023 - Deer Valley Palooza in 3 stages with Mark1npt and Agelvis; 6/25/2023-7/1/2023 (8,100 ft): 94 on day one, 92 on day 2 but sticking with the higher score since most people would drink day one. I forgot how much air this had, I think we slow oxed it for a few hours the first day and then brought to dinner. Very structured, biting acid and astringent tannins, blueberry and bramble.
Much smoother on day 2, nice florals on the nose, but missing some of the vibrancy of the fruit.

June 29, 2023 - Notes similar to my last bottle. Double decanted then slow ox'd for 90 min and enjoyed at the restaurant. Briar, dark berries on the nose with the slightest ever hint of green pepper on the end. This bottle has a bit of a rustic feel to it compared to the others. Some foliage and menthol on the palate to go along with the great black fruit. Still quite good but maybe a point or two less than the last bottle? Maybe it's the altitude here as I notice I've been scoring bottles about a point or two less across the board.

Addendum: One third of the bottle left under a Repour stopper overnight and sampled by a few of us the 2nd night. Needs every bit of 30 min to re-oxidize after removing the stopper. Fruit remains dark, but there's a bit of a weird floral/sweet note that seems out of place with the very dark fruit. I think at best this is a 93 the 2nd night so I'm deducting a point from my original score of 94. Now 93.

March 1, 2023 - Purchased at auction about 4-5 months ago. Cellared at 56-60 deg since. Decanted for 90 minutes before taking to the table tonight. At the pnp, it was very liqueur-like in its fruit when sampled. A certain alcohol infused red raspberry syrup. At 90 minutes in the decanter the nose and the palate had evolved to the point where I shut it down and put it back into the bottle to take 3 hours later to our tasting. Immediately upon pouring out into glasses the nose reveals great, bright, lively, juicy fruit with depth. In the mouth the term 'voluptuous' emerged at the table over the next hour and it drank very well for the remainder of the bottle over the next 3-4 hours. One of the WOTN was the consensus at the table if memory serves....haven't had a vintage of this since the '10 but this certainly seems now to be my fav wine made off of Atlas Peak and I think winemaker Heidi Barrett must be given all the credit and thanked for that. She really knows how to allow/help this fruit to shine.

June 12, 2022 - See prior notes - drinking nicely right now and optimal in my view. About the same as before but more secondary characteristics coming out- spice notes, vanilla and light chocolate

September 23, 2021 - Initially very perfumed, classic violet and plum and black cherry. Then opens up a lot - bold white pepper, sour cherry, wild strawberry, some mint on the flourish. Alcohol is noticeable - think this still has some years to integrate.
