February 24, 2019 - Lovely fragrant Bordeaux. Medium bodied, well tasty, light earthy blackberry and dark plum fruit, truly delicious, fresh and alive with excellent depth of flavour. Really enjoyed this.

October 28, 2018 - 12 years since my last bottle of this. Really deep color. Not very Margaux-like. Some coffee, violets, and iron on the nose with cassis and plum in the background. Fine grained tannins. Not a lot of weight on the palate. Certainly not falling apart -- but, probably past best.

December 16, 2017 - Smooth, big, huge finesse perhaps a little too elegant

October 13, 2017 - Smooth tannins, smokey Bordeaux blend with lots of dark fruit. Holding up well with a few more good years left.

September 10, 2017 - The nose is very attractive, with sweet candy flavours mixed with plums and blackcurrants. The attack is a rich blend of plums, dark cherries and blackcurrants, but then it sadly goes wrong. The second wave is rather syrupy and stodgy, as if the wine gets stuck in second gear amidst all the fruit and the finish never really materializes. Totally atypical for a 2002, especially the idea of a 2002 that most people have, this reminds me more of some of the lesser 00s. There's a lack of backbone, definition and balance. As for Margaux elegance or character, look elsewhere. It's a shame because the 04 is really rather good, but this is a disappointment.
It could be a bad phase, so I won't note it.
