November 24, 2009 - Waited long enough for this and I am a happy camper. Pours very dark with strong aromas of chocolate wafers, ripe cherries, and cranberry. Excellent nose to palate follow through adding defined black fruit, graphite, and minerals to the bill. Full body with a velvet tickle of tannin that balances this wine well. The finish is long and inviting. This wine is chewy with a sense of acid that springs into action that works well at this point with the tannin component. Big fruit and big backbone for supreme balance. I am thoroughly enjoying this. I shall savor the moment.

October 10, 2009 - nose - funk, like someone ripped one into the glass (but in a good way :0 ), soy sauce, per the server 'musty dusty'.
mouth - a bold wine but showing finesse

January 26, 2009 - This is a big, deep Napa Cab. Ink black red color, full nose of dark berry fruits with some floral sweetness; leather, sweet pipe smoke, nutty spices and eucalyptus. Full bodied with great mid palate, and a bit of a slam of tannins on the first night, but after decanting and aeration became very smooth and full with lingering taste of tobacco, pine nuts and rye bread flavors. It was a great experience, and I only regret that I don't have another bottle to sample in a couple of years to see if it has melded even more fully. Interesting through the whole bottle, over two nights.

April 10, 2007 - This is a wine with a deep purple color and heavy body. From the nose I got violets, eucalyptus, blackfruits and vanilla and the flavors were of blackfruit, currants, spices and tobacco. The wine started off so good, but then a little before midway through the wine the tannin comes in and hits like a sledge hammer. This wine needs to sit until at least 2010 before opening and given Trefethen's reputation for age worthy wine, this one should see the year 2025 and still be a good wine.
