April 20, 2024 - Really crispy electric green notes to it. A little more savory and round on the palate.

January 3, 2024 - First experience with Mousse and this is the L’or d’Eugene perpetuelle blanc de noir. Disgorged 4/2022. 2.5g/l RS and same on the dosage. 2003-2020 reserve years. 80% meunier and 20% Pinot noir.

The wine is golden, with a tinge of rose, let’s call it rose gold. It has wonderful full aromas of pastry, but not the overly sweet varieties. There’s a nice mix of red and yellow apples here too with some nuts and honey along for the ride. On the palette, the aromatics show up in full force, with some additions of red raspberry and strawberry that come in toward the finish. Acidity is medium plus here, and well balanced. Personally, I’d like a touch more to hit that extra high note, but it’s by no means lacking.

Really impressive entry level wine at a solid price. I’m a fan and will seek out more from Mousse.

Update: 2 hours in with air, this wine transformed into something even better. More terroir now, with a rocky, chalky thing that just smells like a wonderful place to relax and forget about it all. I LOVE the nose on this wine. Taking my score up two points for this unique terroir element that’s drawn me in big time.

October 28, 2023 - La Fête du Champagne Grand Tasting (Pier Sixty - New York NY): Walkaround tasting. 80% Meunier, 20% Pinot Noir. Rich with good textures, also fun and balanced with good enough richness.

October 26, 2023 - Absolutely love this stuff. In the glass, this Champagne has a golden hue. The nose is a captivating journey of aromas, from confit lemons and honeycomb to tart red fruits, all underpinned by subtle notes of white peach and a chalky minerality. On the palate, the nuances continue to unfold. The distinct taste of honeycomb, devoid of its typical sweetness, stands out, harmoniously blending with flavors of white peach. There's a delightful interplay of red fruits and minerals, and the ripe, almost astringent lemon note adds an intriguing twist. The wine's complexity is evident with each sip, revealing layer after layer of flavors, making it a truly immersive experience. Its body leans towards medium-plus, perhaps even full, with a fine mousse. The finish is remarkably long, testament to the wine's depth and character. Accompanied by a medium-plus acidity, this Champagne is not only deeply flavorful but also superbly balanced. It stands as an exceptional value, offering an experience that lingers both on the palate and in memory.

September 2, 2023 - From a magnum. Very easy drinking bubbles. A bit tough since it was in a line-up with a lot of truly amazing wines and this feels more like the wine that you have in a glass on a warm summer day when you are not planning to contemplate the wine. Easy and a great QPR.
