June 7, 2020 - #67fromhome - lighter flavours, very long with picking until DEcmber so the triage is great each time, end result is orange marmalade with less sugar, balanced but less sweet. Acidity still present, but not what standard Sauternes one would expect, proving there is more to the region than sugar bombs.

June 12, 2011 - Couleur or digne d'un jeune Fargues! Au nez, on sent un peu le vernis à ongles, mais ça s'estompe rapidement avec l'aération. Le nez laissera plutôt place à de beaux arômes de crème brûlée, crème caramel, odeur de rôti.
En bouche, le vin n'est pas très complexe (rappelons que 1985 n'est pas grandiose à Sauternes). Cependant, il présente de plaisantes saveurs de pêches et de caramel. Le vin manque un peu de sucre et de gras, mais c'est un bel effort du Château de Fargues dans ce millésime difficile que je découvrais pour la première fois. Finale correcte sur les agrumes.
Bizarrement, au lieu de vous dire de vous dépêcher à boire ce vin, j'aurais tendance à conseiller de garder ces bouteilles encore une dizaine d'années, question de tenter de faire sortir davantage le joli côté brûlé/caramel. Simple "feeling"!1 person found this helpful Comment -

March 18, 2011 - Glengarry Old Wines Dinner (Auckland, New Zealand): A fine aged sauternes with little evidence of botrytis. Aging and drinking well - certainly not close to decline. The wine does not have huge dimension but has good presence although a hint of SO2 detracts somewhat.
